Chromatic dispersion accumulates in optical fibers, broadening transmission signals and degrading performance, as illustrated below. A cost-effective method for mitigating this effect is to use a spool of dispersion compensation fiber (DCF) engineered with negative chromatic dispersion. We offer a range of standard DCF spool lengths designed to compensate for 10 km, 20 km, 30 km, and 40 km of G.652 single-mode fiber in the C-band (1528–1568 nm). Precision chromatic dispersion measurement services are also available, and custom spool lengths can be fabricated in-house using our precision winding system. These DCF compensation modules are passive devices that support SDH/SONET, DWDM, CATV, and related optical transmission systems. We also manufacture precision fiber optic coils for SATCOM, military, telecommunications, sensing, laser mode scrambling, and radar calibration applications. DCF modules are available in multiple packaging formats, including standard spools, box, and 1U rack-mount plug-in modules. The 1U chassis is available for purchase separately.
