Polarization Maintaining Laser Sources

Agiltron offers a comprehensive range of polarization-maintaining (PM) fiber-coupled laser sources tailored for applications requiring stable and high-purity polarized outputs. While many semiconductor laser diodes inherently emit polarized light, direct coupling to PM fibers often results in limited polarization extinction ratio (PER) stability. To address this, Agiltron provides various advanced solutions:

  • VCSELs (Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Lasers): Ideal for low-power applications, VCSELs have intrinsic symmetry, making them an excellent choice for consistent or high PER outputs.
  • Fiber ASE (Amplified Spontaneous Emission): Leveraging their random polarization nature, ASE sources achieve exceptional polarization properties with PER >30 dB and output powers up to 1 kW when filtered through a polarizer. These sources are, however, limited to the 1550 nm and 1060 nm wavelength bands.
  • Distributed Feedback (DFB) Lasers: DFB lasers provide versatile options in various wavelengths and output powers up to 100 mW, making them suitable for precision applications. Selecting narrow linewidths, DFBs can provide stable polarization performance.
  • Supercontinuum Lasers: supercontinuum sources produce high-quality PM single-mode laser outputs covering an ultra-wide wavelength range from 400 to 2200 nm, supporting applications requiring broad spectral coverage.
